CHARITIES
Every year CTAC holds a number of special charity and fun day competitions that aim to help the surrounding community. These competitions aim to create awareness around the sport of fishing as well as serve as a good day of fun for the community involved. All proceeds raised on the day go towards helping a special cause.
The Miggie Challenge was started in 2014 as an annual competition to be held on the 1st May to celebrate the life and positive spirit of Stefan "Miggie" King. The purpose of this competition is FUN. This competition is a back-to-front competition that has its very own fancy dress theme. Individuals are encouraged to arrive at the dam wearing out-of-the-box fancy dress costumes where previous years outfits ranged from Minnie Mouse to 1960's hippies, cowboys and even secret agents and rockstars. The MAIN rule for this competition is that you break the rules, which is a great laugh when anglers are running up and down the bank stealing each other's fish.
Stefan "Miggie" King is a hero in the fishing circles who lost the battle to Cystic Fibrosis in 2014 at the age of 21. This competition aims to promote Cystic Fibrosis awareness and Organ Donation and is a fun day that survives on generous donations from those who enter the competition. All monies collected on the day go towards helping those who suffer from CF and similar life-threatening diseases.

The Paarl School Fun Day
The Paarl School fun day is a competition that is held in accordance with the Paarl School for disabled children which is situated in Brackenfell. This event is purely based on the children who partake in the event.
On this event the children from the school spend the day at the dam with fishing volunteers where they are exposed to the sport of fishing. The children are shown how fishing works and then all participate in baiting up and throwing in, hoping that a fish will bite on the other side.
The day is enjoyed by all with lots of laughs and smiles... and even a fish or two. The day is always ended off with a boerewors roll and prize giving where there are many fun prizes for the children that are up for grabs.

The Durbanville Childrens Home
This event is an inter-club charity event in which Cape Town Angling Club participates each year and is hosted by Green and Sea Point Angling Club in accordance with Phisantekraal and the Durbanville Children's Home.
In this event every club fields a team of volunteer anglers that fish against each other to determine the ultimate club... However, the anglers serve only the purpose of helpers and it is the children who do all the fishing. The volunteers are responsible for showing the children how to bait up, cast and net a fish, cheering the children on with enthusiasm. The days's activities are enjoyed by all and the proceeds go towards the Durbanville Children's Home.
